Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how Miguel Muñoz ("Core Utils", "we"), as data controller of the website core-utils.dev, processes your personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Spanish Organic Law 3/2018 (LOPDGDD). It covers this website and its online services (Forge, Connect, Relay, EasyForms, Solutions, DevWrapped and Ollama Chat). Our CLI and desktop tools run locally on your machine and are addressed below where relevant. You can reach us at miguel@core-utils.dev.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use Core Utils, we may process:

• Account data (OAuth): When you sign in with GitHub or Google we receive your public profile (username/login, display name, avatar and, for Google, email). We never receive your password and we do not keep OAuth access tokens after sign-in.
• Content you submit: Threads, comments and votes (Forge); messages and direct messages (Connect); client conversations (Relay); the forms you build and the responses you collect (EasyForms); and custom-work requests (Solutions). This may include any personal data you choose to include.
• DevWrapped data: DevWrapped reads publicly available GitHub information for the username you enter (public profile, public repositories and public contribution activity) to build a recap. The recap image is served from a public URL. Private repository data is never used.
• Local / in-browser data: Language and theme preferences, and settings for tools like Ollama Chat and the DevWrapped AI recap, are stored only in your browser. Ollama Chat and the AI recap send your prompts directly to the endpoint you configure — never to us.
• Technical & usage data: Privacy-friendly, aggregated analytics via Vercel Web Analytics (no cookies, no cross-site profiling) and standard server logs (e.g. IP address) needed to run and secure the service.

3. Why we process it (legal bases)

• To provide the services you request — accounts, forum, chat, forms, requests (performance of our Terms).
• To keep the service secure and prevent abuse, including moderation and blocking (legitimate interest).
• To measure aggregate usage and improve the site (legitimate interest, privacy-friendly analytics).
• To answer your enquiries and support requests (legitimate interest / pre-contract steps).
• Where we ask for it, on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

4. Storage, security and retention

The website is served through Vercel; our API and databases run on our own server (api.core-utils.dev). We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures (encryption in transit, httpOnly session cookies, access controls). We keep personal data only for as long as needed for the purpose it was collected or as required by law: account and content data are kept while your account or content is active and are deleted or anonymised on request. Most of our CLI and desktop tools store data locally on your device, which we never receive.

5. Third parties and international transfers

We rely on GitHub and Google (authentication) and Vercel (hosting and privacy-friendly analytics). Some providers are based in the United States; where personal data leaves the EEA it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. We never sell your personal data. Ollama Chat and the optional AI recap send data directly from your browser to the endpoint you choose (your local Ollama or an OpenAI-compatible provider you configure); that provider’s own policy applies and we are not involved.

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• Access your personal data and obtain a copy.
• Rectify inaccurate data and complete incomplete data.
• Erase your data (“right to be forgotten”) where applicable.
• Restrict or object to certain processing.
• Data portability in a structured, machine-readable format.
• Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing.
• Request removal of a DevWrapped recap generated for your GitHub username.

7. Open-source transparency

Core Utils is open source: you can review how our tools handle data by reading the source code in our public GitHub repositories.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be reflected on this page and in the “last updated” date above.
